Educational occupancies, Charter Schools and State College Campuses:
·
Florida Statute 1013.12
Casualty, Safety, Sanitation and Fire Safety Standards and Inspection of
properties
·
Florida Administrative Code
69A-58 Fire Safety In Educational Facilities
Our
Florida Certified Fire Safety Inspectors referance the following codes,
standards and recommended guidelines, during the inspection process to provide
a comprehensive report for each facility:
·
State Requirements for
Educational Facilities (SREF)
·
Florida Fire Prevention Code
·
CPSC Public Playground Safety
Manual
·
ANSI, ASTM, OSHA Standards
Our staff has met the extensive background screening requirements
of Florida Statute Section 1012.467 to obtain a statewide contractor badge
recognized by all School Districts throughout Florida.
Inspection Process
Pre Inspection
1. Schedule
the inspection with individual school site or District contact at convenient
time and date. The Inspections can be completed while building is occupied or
unoccupied. During occupation, we work with each facility to keep disruption of
staff and students to a minimum.
2. Arrange
for key access or facility person escort. We welcome an escort, as this
inspection not only is an educational opportunity, but a chance to make
corrections to minor maintenance items during the inspection.
Inspection
During
the inspection process we strive to open every door to every room in the
facility.
We
will also be assessing the condtion of the following areas:
·
Parking lots/driveways upon
entry to facility
·
Walking surfaces during the
inspection
·
Playgrounds/PE areas/Athletic
fields
·
Portables Classroom/Storage
The
Inspector will verify:
·
Fire Drills have been
completed to the date of the inspection in educational occupancies
·
Facility Life Safety Systems
have current inspection tags i.e. Fire alarm, fire sprinkler, hood suppression,
fire extinguishers
·
Facilities with grandstands
and bleachers have biennial bleacher inspections completed as required by code.
·
Facilties with working
auditoriums have rigging inspections and fire curtain exercised as required by
code
Post Inspection
After
the inspection of the facility is completed the inspector will generally meet
with the site administrator/maintenance to go over the deficiencies. We also
provide follow up support for any questions that arise concerning code
referances or verification of items being repaired, etc. The inspector will complete the report and
quality assurance process. The final
report will be delivered to the Facility or District contact in time to provide
to the local authorities per code requirements.
